Preventing 'Vandalism' and Preserving Identity in Internet Activism
Early September last year refugees stuck in the train station in Budapest decided to walk towards western Europe in what was soon referred to as #marchofhope; many of the people welcoming the refugees organized themselves via an etherpad. But soon, online vandalism rendered it useless for organizing. Can we do better than that? This will be a hands on workshop exploring the existing tools to come up with a recommendation for ad hoc organizing that is more resistant to vandalism, with a lense on how to preserve the integrity of the identities of yourself and others while undertaking online activism in modern contexts.
