The Institute for War and Peace Reporting and Front Line Defenders will be holding a Panel Discussion on the topic of digital attacks against human rights defender and journalists in the MENA Region. The Agenda of the discussion includes the role of states, non-state actors and corporations in such attacks while emphasizing on real life case studies that have occurred in UAE, Egypt and Morocco.
1. Highlight on ongoing attacks by state and non-state actors in the MENA region
2. Discuss experiences of such attacks from the 3 areas in the region: Gulf, Levant, and Maghreb
3. Role of the private sector/corporate (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) in providing data/metadata to governments in the region.
